As part of this year’s Fear in the Fens Festival,
we are offering some exciting creative writing workshops,
led by published poet and experienced tutor, Sue Burge -
and an opportunity to take part in an open mic evening
which will launch this year’s event.

There will be two “spell-binding” workshops on the same day.
Taking the Festival's theme All Of Them Witches participants will use innovative exercises to produce fresh and original poetry and prose which combines spells, incantations, conjurings and charms with Fen folk tales and rituals.

The morning workshop will focus on poetry and the afternoon on short fiction.
You can book one or both sessions (there is a discount for booking both).

Participants will be encouraged to polish their pieces and to send them to Sue for feedback prior to their possible inclusion in the open mic night on 18 October which will open the 2019 Fear in the Fens Festival.

Attendance at a workshop entitles you to free entry and performance slot at the Open Mic evening on Friday 18th October).

The workshops offer you plenty of tea, coffee, and biscuits will be provided to fuel your creativity.
And, if you have booked both sessions, there are plenty of places within walking distance to grab a sandwich for lunch. Free parking is available in town, or we're a short walk from the train station (find out more about getting to Downham Market).

If you are interested in either (or both) of these workshops, we encourage you to take a look at the Fear in the Fens 2019 programme to give you an idea of what the festival is about, and possibly provide some inspiration for your own work!
